Embracing joy in life’s journey

while living simply, raising scholars, parenting with purpose, creating a place of peace, and traveling the world.

Living Simply

A simple life contributes to a life of peace and joy.  That simple life comes from choices – daily choices related to our home, our relationships, our thinking, our goals, our finances, and our priorities and values. Here’s how to find that simple life .. that joyful life .. that peaceful life.

Raising Scholars (Homeschooling)

Unplanned and unexpected, we began our amazing, transforming journey providing a challenging, enriching, inspiring education for our three children – the results were beyond even our most optimistic hopes. Here are all the details of how we did it from Pre-K through high school!

Parenting with Purpose

Parenting is challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and exciting.  It stretches the imagination, tests problem-solving skills, and reveals an all-encompassing love. It may be the single greatest legacy you leave. After being asked multiple times about parenting, here we detail the principles we taught and the methods we used in raising responsible, respectful, and ambitious young men.

Teaching Financial Responsibility

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a foundation of good financial management.  Understanding consumerism, intentional spending, savings, debt, credit scores, investments, and the wonder of compound interest were central to the instruction of our children beginning at an early age all the way through teenage years.  Here’s how we teach financial responsibility step-by-step.

Traveling Light as a Family

Love of travel, love of family, and love of history unite in some amazing memorable adventures with my sons both within the U.S. and abroad. Traveling light with just a couple bags allows for flexibility and spontaneity ~ I wouldn’t travel any other way! We share our itineraries and packing lists for trips in the U.S. and abroad.

Creating a Place of Peace (Decluttering)

Clutter and disorder in the home can cripple us and rob us of the peace and joy we crave. By defining a vision for our home and life, we slowly clear the clutter and create a haven for ourselves, a place of peace. Then the clutter and disorder in other areas of our lives begin to dissipate, freeing us to fully pursue our dreams and embrace joy. Is your home a haven, a place of peace?
