Main Packing List:

You and your family are all excited to road trip through the Southwestern U.S. seeing and experiencing some of the nation’s best Natural Wonders! Now it’s time to pack.

Fortunately, packing for this trip is not that different than packing for any other trip. Use the general packing list for Road Trips found in Traveling Light as a Family – It’s Possible! This comprehensive list contains all the essentials.

If Traveling with Very Young Children:

If you are doing this road trip as part of the experiential learning adventures discussed in Raising Scholars, you will most likely be traveling with young children (elementary age).

A few additional items can be added to make the travels a little more pleasurable for these young ones such as:

      • Music to play in the car
      • Audiobooks to listen to in the car
      • Toys or travel games
      • Paper maps   (young ones LOVE to follow along on a physical map)

For this particular trip, we also had a baby, so brought some baby supplies:

      • Stroller
      • Baby carrier or baby sling
      • Pack-n-Play (for hotel room)
      • Diapers & extra wipes
      • Toys, books & entertainment for car
      • Baby food & finger foods

Traveling light and not bringing excess stuff allows more time to fully embrace the amazing experiences you are getting ready to have!

Happy travels!
